Huzar Power was incorporated as a private limited company in 2003. This followed several years of preliminary research which demonstrated that a modern steam power plant, which rivals the diesel engine in the 25-500kw power band, is a feasible proposition. Work to confirm the original ideas has proceeded rapidly and has resulted in the invention or re-discovery of several key elements necessary for such an engine to function. This work has covered methods of efficient heat generation, steam raising and delivery, steam condensation, recovery of waste heat, and lubrication and control systems. A laboratory-scale flash-steam engine has now been constructed and is under test.
Prior-art has been identified and patents have been applied for in key areas. Information on secondary but novel technologies or processes, which have been discovered during research and development work, will be published on this website in order to prevent others from taking out patents on them. Work is now proceeding on the development of a full prototype engine and its auxiliary systems.
It is the company’s objective to complete the development of the High-Efficiency Flash-Steam Engine and offer production versions for use in applications where its particular attributes are of interest. The company also expects to make good additional use of some of the discoveries relating to auxiliary engine systems, which have been made along the way. These concern, for example; high efficiency heat exchangers, heat transfer methods, heat recovery systems and condensers for two-phase systems. Products utilizing these discoveries may be developed as separate entities from the engines and manufactured by the company or licensed to others.
